The other day I wrote about the Robert Canvas Tote from Marc Jacobs and how the design didn’t quite make sense to me. After feeling that way, I was understandably a bit curious about the design aesthetic over at MJ… until I saw the Marc by Marc Jacobs City Bag Tote.
At 15″ tall and 13″ wide, it is definitely a large bag. It might actually be a bit large for my 5′4 frame, which is very sad because the gorgeous violet leather jumped right out at me as a great complement to jeans or light summer neutrals.
I just love the ruching detail which is what gives this bag some style and makes it not just a normal flat tote. The contrast of the silver hardware looks great against the violet leather (and let me again say how much I love the violet leather – so unique).
The bag is aptly named in my opinion. Can’t you just see it being used around the city? Especially considering the removable shoulder strap, it seems perfectly versatile for use during a day in the city. Pick one up at Net-a-porter.
As always, I’d love to know what you think about the bag…

That color is fantastic! It would dress up any simple summer outfit and is the perfect size for a day of vacation walking around. I’m also incredibly drawn to the pentagon shape where the handles are stitched to the bag for some reason. My eye keeps getting drawn up to the top of the bag.
Mo – The pentagons are something I hadn’t really keyed in on when I first saw this bag, but now that you’ve mentioned them, I can’t help but notice what a unique shape that is on a bag. Good eyes!
